Every human is created in God’s image & likeness, and therefore every human life is sacred. Here in the Archdiocese of New Orleans we are working to build a Culture of Life and a Civilization of Love that fosters the dignity & respect of all human life from conception until natural death. We rely on the teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church & the USCCB’s Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities in order to foster the dignity & respect for every human life through the means of prayer & worship, public information & education, promoting public policy, and pastoral care.

Respect Life Prayer Heavenly Father, every person is created by you because you love us. Each one of us has something important that is different from every other person. May we always remember that we and each person we know is your beautiful, unique creation. May we always cherish our own lives and the lives of all others. In Jesus’ name we ask this prayer…Amen -
Each year the Church observes January 22 as a
Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.
Pope Saint John Paul, II in Evangleium Vitae stated,
"A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer."
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' website states,
The over 60 million abortions since the 1973 decisions of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton reflect with heartbreaking magnitude what Pope Francis means by a “throwaway culture.” However, we have great trust in God’s providence. We are reminded time and again in Scripture to seek the Lord’s help, and as people of faith, we believe that our prayers are heard.
As individuals, we are called to observe this day through the penitential practices of prayer, fasting and/or giving alms.
